Meet the Team

Tim Abbott

Co-Founder and CEO

Tim Abbott is the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of The Fostering Project, where he leads the organization's mission to unite communities through faith to strengthen children and families impacted by foster care. He is passionate about helping churches, businesses, and neighbors discover how they can work together to reflect the heart of Jesus through practical service and lasting relationships.

A lifelong advocate for his community, Tim has championed numerous initiatives throughout Bartow County, including his work with Mountain Top Foster Care, the Good Neighbor Homeless Shelter, and the City of Euharlee City Council. In 2025, he led the effort to make Cartersville a Foster Friendly City, rallying local churches, businesses, organizations, and individuals around a shared commitment to supporting foster, adoptive, and kinship families. His vision demonstrated that foster care is not just the responsibility of a few families—it is a calling for the entire community.

Tim is also the creator of Night in a Box, an annual awareness campaign in which he spends the night sleeping in a cardboard box on a street corner to raise awareness and funds for causes including homelessness and foster care. The initiative has inspired countless people to engage with the needs of vulnerable children and families in tangible ways.

Alongside his wife, Lisa, Tim adopted three children through foster care. They live in Euharlee, Georgia, where they continue to invest in their family, church, and community. Known for never meeting a stranger, Tim is committed to building communities where every child and every family experiences hope, belonging, and the love of Christ.

Nicole Barlow

Co-Founder and Chief of Staff

Nicole Barlow is a trauma-informed speaker, coach, and advocate dedicated to strengthening families and mobilizing communities to care for children impacted by foster care. She is a TBRI® Practitioner, foster and adoptive mom, and host of the Foster Parent Well Podcast, where she has interviewed leading voices in foster care, trauma, and adoption.

Nicole equips parents, churches, and child welfare professionals with practical tools rooted in both faith and neuroscience.

After adopting a sibling group of five through foster care, Nicole experienced firsthand the beauty, challenges, and healing that come with caring for children from hard places. That journey shaped her passion for helping families move beyond simply surviving to building connected, resilient homes.

Through speaking, training, and community initiatives, Nicole challenges churches and communities to see foster care not as the calling of a few, but as an opportunity for the whole Body of Christ to live out Isaiah 1:17 by defending the vulnerable, supporting families, and creating places where healing can flourish.

Nicole lives in Cartersville, Georgia, with her husband and children. Whether she's speaking from a stage, coaching a parent, or building partnerships across her community, her mission remains the same: to help every child experience the safety, belonging, and hope they deserve.
